Bucket Elevator
Description
Bucket elevator used for to convey loose material (Like Powder, Granuals) in limited space applications, in which vertical elevation and Z type also possible with help of buckets mounted on chain.A bucket elevator is a vertical material handling machine used to lift bulk materials (powder, grains, granules) from a lower level to a higher level using a series of buckets attached to a belt or chain. It is widely used in industries like food processing, agriculture, cement, chemicals, and packaging plants.
Working Principle
Material enters through the inlet at the bottom (boot section)
Buckets scoop the material
Buckets move upward with belt/chain
At the top, material is discharged by:
Centrifugal force OR
Gravity
Continuous vertical transport with minimal loss
Types of Bucket Elevators
1. Centrifugal Discharge Elevator
High speed
For free-flowing materials
2. Continuous Elevator
Low speed
For fragile materials
3. Chain Bucket Elevator
Heavy-duty
Used in cement & mining
4. Belt Bucket Elevator
Light to medium duty
Used in food & agriculture
Applications
Bucket elevators are used in:
🌾 Agriculture → grains, seeds
🍛 Food industry → rice, flour, pulses
🧱 Cement → cement, clinker
🧪 Chemicals → powders, pellets
🏭 Manufacturing → bulk material transfer
👉 Often used with:
Silos (storage)
Screw conveyors (horizontal transfer)
Key Features
Vertical lifting of bulk materials
Space-saving design
Enclosed system (dust-free)
